Bachelor Party Planning - The Ultimate Weekend Trip with the Guys

Rounding up the guys to devour some barbecued red meat followed by a drunken jaunt to the local "nudie bar" just doesn't seem to be cutting it for today's soon-to-be grooms as they celebrate the end of bachelorhood. Could this new trend just be the competitive nature of men flourishing as they try to upstage their buddy's previous celebration? Absolutely, guys want the best of everything and most of all, they want to impress. After all, it's the Bachelor Party and not the wedding that will be most remembered and talked about event amongst a guy's inner circle. The bachelor party is the ultimate 'boys night out" and now future grooms are stretching this "night out' into a whole weekend affair.

So, why all of a sudden are trends showing that bachelor parties no longer just entail one evening of cliché festivities but instead include a full weekend getaway filled with adventure? This could be due to the fact that men are now getting married later in their lives and thus have more disposable income to celebrate their bachelor parties in an out of town setting. According to Bride's Magazine, the average age of a man getting married in the United States is now 29.

So where are today's grooms going to celebrate their final days of bachelor freedom and more importantly what are they doing when they get there? These traveling bachelor parties all seem to wind up in destinations that make sense to travel to for a weekend and are places that have a reputation for being full of beautiful women. When the guys get to their chosen destinations they tend to indulge in adrenaline packed activities during the day like go-karting, bungee jumping, and racing experiences. Then when evening strikes, they enjoy taking in some eye-popping entertainment while being pampered like rock stars.

The Las Vegas bachelor party is probably one of the most popular choices for the high-end bachelor party. The cool thing about Vegas is that if you travel in a group you can enjoy the treatment of being pampered like royalty at an affordable price. Believe it or not, but hiring a limo for the night can actually be cheaper than cab fare and you even get to travel the strip from one hotspot to another, sipping champagne. During the day, there's plenty of exciting activities if you're not too hung over to participate. Take a leap of faith by bungee jumping off of the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino or get behind the wheel of your very own indy car as you reach speeds of 140 miles per hour at the Mario Andretti Racing experience.

Believe it or not some Canadian cities are carving out their place as traveling bachelor party hot beds as well. Montreal and Toronto are two of these Canadian gems which are gaining popularity with the bachelor party scene. What's all the hype about? For starters, the two cities are renowned for their beautiful women and have incredible night life options. Toronto has been said to be one of the top cities to recruit Canadian models and the gentleman's clubs in Montreal are known worldwide. The accessibility of Cuban cigars is another popular feature of these Canadian destinations. For those who know cigars, Cubans are the cream of the crop and their presence during the bachelor party can really score top points with the party contingent.

Other popular trends seen with the traveling bachelor party is taking in a major league sporting event. Even snow boarding adventures and learn-to-surf camps are gaining popularity.

The truth of the matter is that guys like quality time with the boys and as they get older and start focusing on their professional and family lives it begins to be much harder to do. This could explain why the bachelor party has evolved from a regular night out in a local strip club to a testosterone packed out-of-town weekend adventure. For all of you who are planning on tying the knot in the upcoming future, it's time to get that thinking hat on early so you're prepared for the big day, that is the bachelor party and not the wedding of course.

No Bikes Allowed - Skate Parks

It's early Saturday morning and the local skate park appears to be empty? It just so happens that your BMX bike is in the back of your car, how lucky! A quick U-turn and your car grinds to a halt in the skate park lot. With great excitement, the car door flings open and your bike hits the gravel parking lot. You ride through the gate and take one last glance, nope - the park is empty. Selecting your first line, your front tire leaves the lip as you enter the park. Suddenly, you hear screams from the back fence, "no bikes allowed"! Chills climb down your back and your heart sinks. Looking back, two kids just over 10 years old are screaming at you while holding their skateboards. Been there?

"No Bikes Allowed" at public skate parks is a growing issue across the country. Tax payer money is spent every year to the "tune" of hundreds of thousands of dollars to support one sport and exclude another. Is this really fair? Worst yet, is there a legitimate reason? When challenging skaters and public officials about the no bikes policy, they express concern regarding damage, safety, and user conflicts. Is this accurate?

Damage Caused by Bikes is the number one response that we continually hear from skateboarders. We can believe this statement to be true for older parks that have not been designed for BMX use. However, what about all of the new parks being built? In some parts of the country, cities are building parks that co-integrate bikes and skateboards. These cities spend a little extra money to construct a higher density cement to withstand pegs and pedals. This is the solution and the way to spend tax payer money. Also, there are pegs and pedals that are designed to be "skate park friendly". So, obviously there are solutions for reducing damage at newer skate parks.

Safety Concerns are a major worry expressed by most municipalities. It is believed by many that the speed and weight of a BMX bike would cause collisions to be more severe. This is a perceived liability for most cities. While we can't say that collisions will not happen, we can say that collisions can be avoided by teaching simple skate park etiquette. For example, users should call out their line verses entering blindly. Most skateboarders hate to admit that when an experienced BMX freestyle rider is present, they get along just fine. The problem tends not to be the type of user, but the experience of the user. Collisions, whether they be skateboard to BMX or skateboard to skateboard are typically caused by a young or inexperienced user jumping blindly into someone's line or run. By simply dedicating a few hours a week, new riders and skaters can be introduced to skate park etiquette and learn how to ride and skate safely.

Another method used by some cities is to share time between skaters and bikers. Typically, bikes are allowed every other hour. This also seems to be a successful way of managing time between skaters and bikers.

The last conflict seems to be the growing "turf war" between BMX riders and skaters. Most skaters feel strongly that BMX freestyle riders are infringing on the efforts put forth by the skating community to get the municipalities to construct skate parks. These strong emotional efforts often give skaters a strong sense of ownership over these parks. As BMX riders who share these parks, we owe these skaters a big thank you for all of their efforts. The truth is that a decade ago, the sport of skating was in the minority. These skaters have fought their whole lives to have legitimate places to skate. What skaters need to realize is that BMX freestyle riders are now facing the same difficulties that skaters dealt with a decade ago. This is good reason for BMX riders to gain the support of local skating communities to aid in constructing high density concrete parks and establish sharing guidelines so that all users can enjoy these parks.

The bottom line is that a public skate park is paid for by the public via tax payer dollars. Tax payers are not only skateboarders, but also BMX freestyle riders. We often hear that skateboarding is not just a sport, but a way of life. Well, BMX freestyle riders and other aggressive bike riders feel that same passion.

South Farm Jumper Show Fall 2010

South Farm Jumper Show Fall 2010 Video Clips.

My 14.1hh pony "Sandie" and I at a schooling Jumper show Nov. 2010. First we warmed up on the cross rails, then moved on to the Starter division (2'0"-2'3"), which is what we'd been showing at all summer at the Eventing mini trials. After 2 rounds at the Starter level, we moved on to our last round at Beginner Novice (2'3"-2'7"). This was our first time doing Beginner Novice, and it's what we plan to show at for the 2011 summer Eventing season. We do need some work and have a very good trainer we're working with, so please, no critiques ;) I've only been jumping for about 2 years now and Sandie was green broke when I got her 2 1/2 yrs ago, so although we have come a long way in the past couple of years, we are learning to jump together at the same time, so I do realize we have plenty of work to do still! :) We had 1 refusal on the BN course, because I didn't change her lead so she went into the jump unbalanced and knew she couldn't make it. I tried to get her leads (she only does simple for now, no flying changes just yet!), but I know there were a few times I didn't get them, and that's one of the things we're concentrating on now! Another would be my ability to get the right "spots" with her...the "In and Out" in the BN course wasn't too good LOL...I got a bit left behind on the "out" jump when I thought Sandie was going to add a stride and she didn't! Anyway, aside from my nerves causing some issues here and there, we still managed to do the course without me actually ...

Massage Therapist Salary

Let's talk about the financial side of being a massage therapist, namely the massage therapist salary! This is a guide for people who are thinking about becoming a massage therapist and would like to get a picture of what a professional massage therapist earns.

For starters, I will lead you through the system at our massage school, which is typical of many massage schools around the country (the United States). First, you can expect to find yourself doing massage for free during your clinical internship, which must be completed before you can become licensed and get paid to do massage. Happily, though, we were able to receive tips and this was quite welcome as we were mostly rather poor students. Upon graduation and licensure, we were able to continue working in the student clinic. This can be a big plus when you are starting out- for one, you are already familiar with the clinic environment. You know where everything is- massage oils, sheets, pillow cases, cleaning supplies.

Also, if your unpaid internship has been going well, you have built up something of a clientele. So now, whereas before you were getting tips only, now you are getting paid ( an hour in our case) PLUS tips. It's a nice jump in wages while doing the exact same work. I would recommend this to newly licensed practitioners if their school offers such an arrangement. The pay is low compared to the an hour charged by therapists in their own private practice, but keep in mind that running your own practice involves considerable effort and expenses, and that in almost all cases you have to do a good job of marketing yourself in order to get clients. This may be something you want to hold off on until you get more experience and a better idea of how to create a successful massage practice.

Once you are licensed, the (massage) world is your oyster. The work, and hence the salary, you can expect depends on where you are located. Are you working in a spa? A hospital? Your own practice? How much do you charge/get paid? Do you work part or full time? All these (and more) factors will determine your salary. The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) reports that in 2008, a massage therapist working 15 hours a week earned an average of , 500- pretty good for working part time. AMTA also reports average hourly pay in 2008 to be .50.

A note to those of you who are considering a career in massage for the money- usually you will get clients based on the quality of your massage. If your heart is not into it, or you're just doing it to get paid, it's likely you won't succeed as a massage therapist. Massage is a field in which you can make good money, but usually only if you really like the work.
