Arowana fish breeding is an excellent choice for those who like a challenge. Also known as the 'Dragon' Fish for its similar unique slender body and distinctive reflective scales, the results of successful breeding can be extraordinary. According to Chinese lore, a dragon is the symbol of prosperity, strength and power and many believe that the Arowana fish help to ward off evil and misfortune.

Arowana Fish Breeding is not easy and it is one of the most expensive fish in the world due to its high demand but low supply. It's breeding cycle is only around 1 to 2 times a year and they average 3 to 5 years to reach full maturity.

Arowana in general, will eat pretty much anything, however it is important to have a nice variety in their diet. Baby Arowana Fish should be fed around 3 times a day and adults only around once a day. Particularly big Arowana may even be fed once every other day. Favorites in Arowana Fish Breeding include brine shrimp, black worms and even small fish. When they are bigger, you may try bigger fish.

Because of this rather meaty diet, Arowanas do tend to produce a lot of waste. Thus extra care needs to be given in cleaning the tank. At a minimum, 25% to 33% of the water should be changed weekly but the recommended rate is 20% twice a week. Keep the pH values neutral and err temperatures on the higher end, around 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Be warned, too hot a temperature will shorten their lifespan and too cold a temperature may kill them outright.

When considering Arowana breeding, keep in mind that these fish will grow to be at least 24 to 30 inches and some may even grow to be 48 inches. Also you might to keep Arowana fish alone in their tank as other fish just may become their mid-day snack! Additionally, ensure that the top of the tank is sealed correctly as Arowanas love to swim to the top and are capable of jumping clean out of the tank.
