Many people ask why black people can jump higher than white men. The truth is that the color of your skin does not influence your ability to jump. There are many white and black guys that jump high, the only thing that determines how high you can jump is how much you train. I shouldn't say "how much" you train because many people train very hard and very often but they do so in the wrong way and don't see results. If you want good results you have to train properly. You have to know which plyometric exercises to do and how many reps/sets you should do of each.
A vertical jump training program is the best way to go about learning how to jump higher. If you can find the right program you can increase your vertical leap by leaps and bounds, pun intended.
What are plyometric exercises?
Plyometric exercises are workouts that are designed to make your muscles faster. What happens when you muscles are faster? You jump higher. But you can't only work on speed, you have to work on strength as well. For this reason you have to train for both speed and strength in any jumping program.
Plyometrics are very intense and you should not perform them when extremely overweight or out of shape. Make sure that you build up strength in yours legs before starting any plyometric training program. It is suggested that you be able to squat your weight 8 times in 8 seconds before starting plyos.

The car didn't want to turn on with the normal ignition switch, so I decided to make my own. It was relatively easy, the hard part was hiding all the wiring. I placed the relay and fuse link in the little engine computer compartment, I passed a cable through the drain hole and connected it to the starter, I passed another cable through the firewall using the hole where the wiring harness passes through, I then used BSW's dice guide to gain access to the cigarette lighter, and PRESTO!!!
Breathing for Exercise Energy - Jump Starting Your Heart
Many people will give excuse after excuse for not exercising during the day. While the number one excuse is not having enough time, the second excuse used most often is not having enough energy. Energy will remain low as long as the mind is in the avoidance mode. Once you convince yourself that exercise is fun and you WANT to do it, the exercise will return, like MAGIC! In order to jump start those energy levels, exercise breathing can help.
Exercise breathing is like a warm up for the lungs. It gets the body moving and the lungs working in a similar way to how they will be working during the fitness routine. Once the lungs are moving briskly, the heart will kick in and the energy levels of the body will rise.
If you have ever noticed during an exercise routine that after the first 10 or 15 minutes, the exercise does not seem so hard and the energy levels needed to continue are there you understand the forces behind exercise breathing. There are four steps to breathing for energy and they are:
* Take deep breaths. Kind of like stretching the lungs, you want to begin your exercise breathing with long inhales and slow exhales. These will warm up the lungs for the volume of oxygen they are about to experience. These slow breathing exercises should be repeated for 10 to 15 repetitions.
* Rate your energy level. As you are deep breathing, mentally rate your energy level. This will give you a guideline by which to compare your energy level after the breathing exercise. As you slowly breath in and out, notice any changes in energy level. Toward the end of the warm up, you should feel a bit more energized than before you began.
* Moving to abdominal breathing. Now you will move the breathing exercises to the abdomen. As you breath in, fill the abdomen with air and do not move the shoulders. This is all about the tummy. Count the amount of seconds it takes to fill the tummy and exhale at the same rate. You want to breathe in and out just deep enough to not become dizzy from the process. We are not filling a balloon here, just warming up the body. Continue this exercise for three minutes.
* Rate your energy level again. After the three minutes, there should be a marked change in energy level. Your lungs are now warm and ready to move to the music of exercise. This practice can be used at any time during the day when you need a boost of energy, but especially when you are too tired to exercise. These tips can be repeated as a cool down after exercising.
Breathing is the ideal way to give your body back that little spark it needs to move on with the daily exercise routine. Life is all about balance and when we balance our workouts to include our entire body, they will help us to become a healthier person all around for now and tomorrow.

Does you starter make a *click* sound when you try to start your vehicle?
Each time you turn the ignition switch to start, does the starter just *click* one time?
That is probably the starter solenoid.
If it goes, *click-click-click-click*, and so on, it may just be a low battery.
A low battery that makes the starter *click* a few times doesn't have enough *juice* in it to turn the starter over to turn the flywheel over to turn the crankshaft over to make the engine start...phew!
A simple way to tell if the battery is at fault is to turn the headlights on and turn the ignition switch to start.
If the lights go out, then the battery is probably at fault.
Course, you'll have to run real fast after you hit the start position in order to see if the lights go out...or have someone out there watching for you.:-)
You can purchase a small inexpensive battery charger at most malls, or parts store.
The best way to use a *trickle* chargers is to charge the batter all night, or all day, whichever pleases you.
You can try charging the battery. If it runs down again, then you need to do something.
Remove the battery terminals from the battery post, if you have the *post* type, and clean the post and the inside of the cable clamp.
If you have the side mount just loosen the 8mm bolt and clean the terminal where it comes into contact with the battery. Clean the part on the battery, too. :-)
Sometimes the battery will build up a lot of corrosion on the outside of the cable clamp.
When this happens, usually, the inside part of the clamp and post will create a hard metallic-like surface.
This stops the flow of electricity from the alternator to the battery.
When you use the battery's reserve, it's gone, no more being put in.
If the vehicle does crank, it will run off the alternator, which ain't good. :-(
If cleaning the post and recharging the battery doesn't solve the problem, you may need a new one.
Don't run to the nearest *convenience store* and buy a battery.
Take your battery to a place that sells batteries and have it checked.
If it is gone to where old dead batteries go, then you will have to purchase a new one.
You may have other problems...like the alternator; the tension on the alternator belt... several things could make the battery be low...did you leave the parking lights on when you parked, to go shopping? :-)
Testing the starter motor and control box, battery isnt very good so unable to try and start engine. Next video hopefully will be it running jump started by my car. Fingers crossed.

It was "Pomp and Circumstance" once more this spring as we attended another college graduation. This time, my 19-year-old son was graduating with his bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In less than a month, he would start his new position as an Assistant Technical Analyst in a Fortune 500 corporation. But wait... at nineteen, isn't he supposed to be starting college?
I don't know about you, but I've never seen the point in wasting time. I was always the kid who read ahead in class, finished homework before leaving school for the day, and saw no point in filling out sixteen workbook pages on a concept I already knew. When it came to educating my four boys, I've taken a similar approach. Once the basics of a subject are mastered, they can move ahead as quickly as they like, earning college credit while still in high school. Why not?
Benjamin Franklin once said, "Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time; for that's the stuff life is made of." Although traditional education has decreed that primary and secondary education should take twelve or thirteen years to complete, there is no good reason to spend that amount of time, unless you want to.
For homeschooling families, there are much more productive ways to spend those dozen years than crawling through a traditional course of study. The most compelling benefits of earning college credit during high school include increased credibility for the homeschool transcript, and a dramatic savings in the time and money needed to obtain a college degree. Let's talk about these benefits, and the two simplest ways you can start earning credit - standardized college-level exams and community college classes.
Credibility: Show What You Know While diversity is one of homeschooling's greatest assets, it can also be perceived as a liability. Pity the poor college admissions officer who has to wade through hundreds of applications and transcripts each week! When dealing with an accredited public or private school, he knows there is an objective system for assigning grades. When dealing with a homeschooler's application, though, he has no idea how objectively or by what standards grades are assigned. It makes it difficult to measure a homeschooler against someone who has been traditionally schooled.
So how can a student measurably and credibly demonstrate his learning? A parent-created high school transcript is a start, but it won't tell the whole story, unless it shows results from standardized tests or grades from sources other than the parent. When an admission officer sees on a transcript that a homeschooled student has taken English Literature and earned a 'B,' he has no way of knowing the scope and depth of the student's work. However, if the transcript lists a standardized test score or college grade along with the parent-granted grade, the admissions officer immediately has a better picture of what the student has studied and how well he understood the material. This gives him an objective point of reference, and as a bonus, may also impress him!
Save Time: Turn Study Hours into Credit Hours I recently read that it is taking students longer than ever to earn a four-year college degree. Some students are juggling jobs and school, while others have had difficulty settling on a major. Imagine what an advantage a student would have if he or she entered college with a year or two of college credit that was accumulated during the high school years! This credit cushion would provide several wonderful options. The student could:
* Choose to graduate early
* Spend a year exploring classes that look interesting
* Opt for a double major
* Start a microbusiness
* Spend time as an intern or volunteer
* Travel
By learning deeply and purposefully, and investing a little time in testing or college classes during high school, you can make the most of the high school years, and open doors to many interesting opportunities.
Money: A Penny Saved is a Dollar Earned Community college classes and college-level exams are a cheap way to earn college credit. Classes usually cost considerably less than 0 per credit hour, and most exams cost less than 0 for three to six credits. That works out to less than thirty dollars per credit hour for three-credit exams, and less than twenty dollars per credit for six-credit exams. Compared with community college classes, which are reasonable enough, exams come out way ahead, unless your state pays for community college classes when they are taken as a dual-credit option.
Why College-Level Exams? There are two benefits you can earn with exams such as the AP, CLEP, or DSST - advanced placement (also known as "testing out" of otherwise required classes), or actual college credit. The decision as to which benefit to grant rests with the college you choose, but either way, you add credibility to your transcript and save both time and money by taking them.
The beauty of exams is that they don't cause a lot of extra work. Any high-school subject can be broadened and deepened to college-level, especially a subject in which the student has a natural interest. The exams measure whether a student has acquired knowledge and understanding that is approximately comparable to what he would learn in an introductory-level college course. If a student loves a subject and has read extensively on his own, he may be ready to pass a college-level exam without much further study.
College-level exams are convenient. AP exams are offered at high schools; CLEP, DSST, and other exams are offered at test centers on college campuses nationwide. You can take exams whenever you're ready - there's no age limit. They're cheaper than most other ways of earning college credit. They're objective, many are widely accepted, and they make the most of your time. And scores are maintained on a testing company transcript for twenty years so that you can have them sent to any schools you wish at any time during those years.
Try College (with Training Wheels) Your local community college or junior college offers another option for earning credit in classes, such as lab sciences, that are difficult to manage at home. It's like college with training wheels-most students commute, many are first-generation college students, and classes are often designed to bring these students up to speed so they can transfer to a four-year college if they wish. The application process is simple; tuition is usually much lower than at a four-year school; and students can begin by trying just one or two classes at a time with no long-term commitment.
I've heard of students as young as 10 years old being admitted, but most schools prefer that students be 13 or older. My sons started taking classes when they were 15 or 16, and it has been a very positive experience for all of them. Both of my older sons completed associate's degrees, then transferred to four-year schools to complete their bachelor's. It's really nice to be graduating from college, when other people your age are graduating from high school!
An Opportunity and a Challenge As outsiders in the education establishment, homeschoolers sometimes face a credibility gap. While this needn't affect our educational choices, it's nice to be able to go above and beyond the ordinary in providing objective proof of learning. College-level exams and community college classes are cheap, accessible ways of earning college credit and proving that homeschoolers can teach themselves nearly anything they want to know.
When you decide to homeschool through high school, you have already made one non-traditional educational choice. In this test I ran a Sony Vario Laptop playing a DVD and a Seville Classic Tower Fan on Medium Speed. The Laptop was run with out the battery to insure the results measured the actual power draw. In an actual power outage of course you would not do that. Some additional tests will measure the PC doing various tasks both with and with out the battery, running a DSL modem, running a small television and DVD player and some other ideas I have. Training to increase your vertical jump isn't rocket science. All you need is a bit of background and a few exercises to get you started.

Your vertical jump comes from a specific type of muscle - lets call it 'fast-twitch' muscle. You also have two other types of muscle that are involved to different degrees in jumping. But lets keep this simple.
To train the fast-twitch muscles you need to train with low rep - high intensity workouts. This training targets the muscles that are most active in giving an explosive vertical jump and so will give the greatest results in the least amount of time.
A few exercises to get you started are listed below
Calf raises
This exercise targets your calves which give the final push upwards in your jump. To increase intensity of this work out use either a weight vest or dumbbells - one in each hand for balance. To do this exercise start standing straight then push upwards as strongly as you can so that all your weight rests on your toes. You shouldn't leave the ground. Then slowly lower yourself to starting position.
Squats
This exercise develops your quads which are the main muscles in jumping. Start by standing in front of a chair. To increase intensity of this workout use a weight plate and hold it to your chest with both arms. Stand with legs shoulder width apart and knees slightly bent. Slowly lower yourself until your bum just touches the edge of the chair seat. Explode back upwards as fast as you can to starting position.
Lunges
This exercise targets your hamstrings, another group of muscles essential for an explosive vertical jump. Use a weight vest or two dumbbells to increase the intensity of this exercise. Stand up straight with your legs together. Step forwards with one leg, leaving the other leg behind. You should end up with your forwards leg bent at the knee and the thigh parallel to the ground. Your trailing leg should be extended behind you and only slightly bent at the knee. Explode back upwards to starting position.
Skipping
Skipping isn't something that fits in perfectly with the high intensity training of vertical training but is important none the less. Skipping teaches your muscles the technique of jumping and improves stamina and agility. It is also around 4 times as good for you than running - ie. skipping for 15 minutes is the equivalent of running for an hour. It is hands down one of the best things for developing a massive vertical jump.

This is the 1965 Evinrude 33hp Ski-Twin (electric start) That came with my "field find" 1966 Performer 16' runabout. The boat sat in a field for at least 3 years but must have been well taken care of prior to that. As soon as you get into Tortage, jump into "night" mode. (This is inside the tavern) Do all the quests, until you run out. At this point you should be about level 9.
At this point get back into "day" mode and take all the quests you can find in Tortage. You only need to hit level 10 to go back into night mode, so you will only do the quests that you can actually complete in Tortage. There are two gathering quests as well as a few quests outside of the gates. As soon as you hit level 10 go back into night mode.
Again you will simply do all the quests in night mode until you run out.
Now finish you Tortage city quests that you can complete, inside and outside of town. You will never have to go to the "ruins" and you still should not have been to White Sands. After you finish the Tortage quests, go to the Underhalls and just do enough quests to hit level 15.
At 15 head back into night mode and complete the quests.
Now go ahead and finish all the Underhalls quests and Head to White Sands. You should be between 16 and 17. You should have a ton of White Sands quests, do all of them, even the green and grey ones. (These usually take an extremely short amount of time.) The two quests that are optional, since they can sometimes take too long to complete, are the two kill tasks. (Kill 50 picts and another kill 50 whitehand) I only do these if they are already completed, I do not go out of my way to do them. You should hit 19 after turning all of these in at the same time. (Always wait until you are in town to turn in quests, never travel back to town to turn in a single quest or sell any loot).
Now it is time for the last mission to get you out of Tortage. Make sure you have 10 of each potion your class uses, and do not forget to sell all your loot before starting the last quest. (You will easily fill up on loot) Also do not start the quest until you are ready as I do not think there is a way you can leave the quest until it is complete. (You cannot path out) Finally you are out of Tortage.
Starting a Home Business - 5 Things You Must Do Before You Start
I'm the first person to just "jump in" to something without preparing properly. Like when I joined the gym after months of being sedentary. I marched right in to an hour long class of nonstop weight-lifting followed by an intense abdominal routine. Not smart! I completed the class, and could barely walk out. My legs were buckling beneath me, and for the next several days I could barely move. Every single fiber of my being screamed in pain. Well, maybe some of us are just risk-takers, but sometimes not preparing is just plain stupid and counterproductive, and can produce major consequences. This article will tell you a few vitally important things to do before you officially "jump in" to a new online business.
1. Set up an office space - Even if the space is small (mine started out with a laptop on an end table and a portable file box!), have a designated area just for your computer, a printer, and some file folders. You will be accumulating a LOT of information (especially if this is a new venture for you), so while it doesn't have to be perfect, it should be organized in a way that you can find what you need quickly.
2. Computer backup - Learn how to back up your system and do it regularly, especially once you start accumulating and creating material. If you have a computer with a CD-RW drive, you can copy folders and documents from your computer onto a CD. Over time, you will accumulate hundreds of important documents and emails, so I highly recommend creating a backup CD once a week. If you use Outlook for email, you can export all your Personal Folders to a single file (usually "outlookbackup.pst"), which you can then copy onto a CD or somewhere else on your hard-drive. There are also secure online backup programs, such as Mozy.com, which offers a free account to backup your system. The program runs automatically, and setup is a piece of cake.
3. Organize your computer files - As you start your online business, you may get overwhelmed at the amount of information that will come at you. Before this happens, start setting up file folders on your computer to organize it. You will learn quickly about eBooks, and will no doubt receive many offers for free material that will help you in building your business. Wherever you keep documents on your computer (typically "My Documents" in Windows), set up a folder system to organize everything that you save on your computer related to your business. For instance, create a folder called "EBOOKS", and within that folder, create subfolders to organize your eBooks and title them with the author's name or the topic of the eBook. Other folder ideas are "Articles," "Website Projects," "Keyword Research," "Blogs," etc.
4. Organize your Email - As you start your online business, emails will come pouring in. Whether it's for an affiliate program you sign up for or from various accounts you'll need such as your webhost, you'll need to have a system to organize them all. If you use Outlook, set up accounts not only for your personal email, but also for email accounts you will create for your website. That streamlines all accounts into one program for easy access. For your business email, set up a separate folder called "Business" under "Personal Folders," NOT the Inbox. That way, emails you get from your website go directly into that folder and never get mixed up with your personal emails. Also, set up subfolders within your Inbox like "Receipts," "Website," and "Affiliate Programs," to help keep things separate and easy to find. If you don't know how to add folders, the simple way is to first open up Outlook. Under "Mail Folders" click once on "Inbox," then right-click, and scroll down to "New Folder." It's that easy, and you'll be so glad you did it. (You can also set those subfolders up in your Business folder.)
5. Organize your time - Starting a new business is a time-stealer. You will find yourself saturated with new information that you may or may not be eager to learn, but it will take TIME to learn, nonetheless. It's easy to get tunnel vision and initially overlook other responsibilities. It is hard to balance, so you must make a plan before you start. Remember your responsibilities with family, your work (if you have another job), home, etc. Make sure you have the support of friends and family in starting your new business because you will no doubt see a decrease in the time you spend with them. If they are supporting you, they will be more understanding when you can't devote the time they're used to. Set aside slots of time just to study or work on the computer, etc. It will be better for you and your friends and family if they know what to expect.
And one other crucial thing to remember is to take breaks. If you're starting an online business out of desperation to make more money, this is especially important. An unhealthy drive to "hurry and get it done" can cause you to overwork yourself, which will lead to stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and ineffectiveness in your work. Step away from your work every hour or two and breathe, stretch, grab a glass of water or a snack. Take care of yourself!
Taking a little extra time to prepare for the start of your business may seem unimportant at first; but in the long run it will save you hours of work, the headache of lost files and information, give you instant gain in efficiency, plus a major advantage towards the success of your business!
